There are 6.7 million people in the United States suffering from chronic wound conditions. Early intervention and treatment of these wounds leads to better outcomes and increased patient satisfaction. UT Medical Center is committed to patients and those caring for patients with chronic wounds. We are proud to host their first Wound Care Symposium 2019 on Saturday June 8th at The University of Tennessee Medical Center Heart Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee. This event will provide ongoing education in advanced wound care techniques and treatment modalities.

Keynote Speaker:

Alexandra Lukianoff, MD is a Regional Medical Director with Healogics Specialty Physicians from Hartford Connecticut. She attended University of Connecticut School of Medicine and completed her residency as a general surgeon at the University of Connecticut Health Center. Taking an interest in wound healing and advanced wound therapy techniques, Dr. Lukianoff is a wound care specialty physician at The Center for Advanced Wound Healing in Hartford, Connecticut. She will be sharing her expertise in the fields of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy and the Future of Advanced Wound Care.

Additional presentations from Dr. Joshua Arnold, Dr. Mitch Goldman, and Dr. Kristie Young.

Accreditation

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint providership of the University of Tennessee College of Medicine and The University of Tennessee Medical Center. The University of Tennessee College of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Education Credits

AMA: The University of Tennessee College of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s) TM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

PAs, NPs and Nurses: Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners and Nurses may use these credit hours toward certification renewal.  This credit is acceptable by the American Academy of Physician’s Assistants (AAPA), American Nurses Credentialing Association (ANCC) and American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).

Cost:

The conference and continuing education credit are being provided free of charge by The University of Tennessee Medical Center.  Parking on the day of the event is $3.00. Lunch and snacks will be provided by sponsors.

Intended Learners:

This conference is designed for physicians, podiatrists, physician assistants, advance nurse practitioners, nurses, wound care specialists, and those wanting to learn more about this advanced specialty and how it can help the patients they serve.

Symposium Details:

Registration will begin at 08:30 on Saturday June 8, in the main lobby of The University of Tennessee Medical Center closest to the Fountain Circle.

Parking for this event is $3.00. Please park in Garage H closest to the Fountain Circle. Enter through the front entrance of UT Medical Center and the conference room is immediately on your right.

Accommodations and Travel:

McGhee Tyson Airport is minutes from UT Medical Center with flights daily to surrounding areas.   There are several hotels in the Downtown area to accommodate your stay, including the Hyatt Place Knoxville, Hilton Knoxville, Hampton Inn & Suites, the Holiday Inn, and the Tennessean. Pricing for hotels averages $175 per night. All are within walking distance to many restaurants and things to see in the Knoxville area. Uber, Lyft, and taxi services are readily available.
