Donna Eason Gave the Gift of Life to a Friend From Church
Donna Eason’s spirituality guided her to become a kidney donor. After attending Alpha, a nondenominational Christian workshop, she began asking herself, “What am I here to accomplish?” Through prayer, she knew her purpose was related to bringing new life to the world. “But at this stage of my life, having more children wasn’t an option,” she said. “So, I wasn’t sure what else I could do.”
Prayer and Facebook Led Donna to Donate
During one of the sessions, Mike Zinzi on dialysis and in need of a kidney transplant, asked for prayer that a donor be found for him. The next time Donna was on Facebook, the “Gift of Life for Mike” page popped up in her feed. The next day, the same thing happened, and she knew she’d found her answer.
It was then that she made the call to the Center for Transplant Services to start the testing process. “I never doubted that we would be a match,” she said. The journey deepened her relationship with God, her family and friends, and her recipient, Mike Zinzi. “When I woke up from surgery, I had the deepest peace,” she said. “I knew I had found my mission.”
