A mother of two children and two dogs, Dr. Jennifer Brinkmann is a board certified internal medicine and pediatrics physician with Family Physicians West where she has practiced since 2004. A Chattanooga, Tenn., native, she graduated medical school from the University of Tennessee – Memphis where she also completed her residency. Dr. Brinkmann likes the diversity of her field. “I feel primary care develops the best patient / doctor relationship,” she says. “I wanted to build long-term relationships with families and care for a patient during their entire life. I also enjoy working with the wide spectrum of diseases that we treat.” Dr. Brinkmann is a member of the American College of Physicians and American Academy of Pediatrics. Prior to joining UT Medical Center, she completed a medical and pediatrics residency from 1999 to 2003; worked in an Emergency Room in Memphis from 2003 to 2004 and was Internal Medicine Chief Resident from 2003 to 2004. During her undergraduate years, she was a chemistry major and biology minor at University of Tennessee in Chattanooga. Her college honors included a full merit scholarship for premed students, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor’s in chemistry, member of the University Honors Program at UT – Chattanooga, and she had a performance grant for playing the clarinet. Dr. Brinkmann and her husband, Kevin, have two children: Molly and Emma. They also have two Shetland Sheep dogs, Bucky and Rascal. Dr. Brinkmann enjoys travel, cooking, reading, hiking and is a gardening enthusiast.
