Personal Interests:
Dr. Katherine Thurman was born in Chattanooga, TN where she grew up watching Dr. Quinn, Medicine Women, and accompanying her grandmother to many appointments, which inspired her interest in medicine. She completed medical school at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and then came to Knoxville, TN for her Family Medicine residency at the University of TN Medical Center. After graduation she served as residency faculty in Little Rock, AR. After meeting her husband there, she felt it was time to return to Knoxville, TN which has always felt like home to her. If she’s not working, Dr. Thurman enjoys cooking with her husband, gardening, and spending time outdoors. Professional interests include preventative medicine and chronic disease management.
