Michael Saad Earns Promotion at The University of Tennessee Medical Center

Michael Saad has been promoted to senior vice president and chief information officer at The University of Tennessee Medical Center. In that role, Saad assumes greater responsibilities as a key member of the medical center’s senior leadership team. He also remains responsible for assisting the organization with achieving its strategic goals and objectives through the development, implementation and support of technology services and solutions.
Saad joined the medical center in 2016 as interim chief information officer before earning promotion to vice president and chief information officer. He became familiar with UT Medical Center while assisting the hospital with numerous technology related projects when he was a senior consultant with TrustPoint Solutions in Atlanta, Ga.
“Since Michael joined the medical center, he’s been a true leader in helping us achieve our strategic goals and objectives through the development, implementation, and support of technology services and solutions,” said Joe Landsman, president and CEO at The University of Tennessee Medical Center. “Throughout the past two months in particular, Michael has led the way for innovation at the medical center by rolling out our new UTMC Way guided navigation app and in ensuring that we were prepared for the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Saad’s experience in meeting the information and technology needs of hospitals and health systems is extensive. He spent several years at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, MI, where he served as vice president and chief technology officer. Additional experience of Saad includes serving as vice president of Information Technology for BBDO, a global advertising agency in Troy, MI.
“Technology is at the forefront of our healthcare strategy and is rapidly transforming the patient and provider experience,” said Saad. “I am excited to continue leading the talented women and men on our Information Technology team as we innovate and provide world-class care to our patients in East Tennessee.”
Saad is a member of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) and holds numerous industry related affiliations and accolades. Saad has completed Dale Carnegie Leadership Training. He also holds numerous technical and professional certifications and earned the distinction of Certified Healthcare CIO (CHCIO) from CHIME.
