COVID-19 Visitor Restrictions
Facial Covering Requirement
Masking is required at the medical center, and is an effective and important tool to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Masking protects our vulnerable patients, visitors and team members. Everyone entering the hospital and any medical office building, both on and off campus, must wear a cloth facial covering or mask.
Gaiters are not allowed as a facial covering.
Hospital Visitor Restrictions
With some exceptions, UT Medical Center is lifting many of its visitor restrictions and returning to open visitation with an unlimited number of visitors to the hospital, medical office buildings and physician practices. Effective Mar. 8, 2022, our new visitation policy will be as follows:-
Masking — Patients and visitors entering the medical center and any medical office buildings both on- and off-campus must wear a well-fitting cloth mask or face mask that covers both your nose and your mouth even if you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Gaiters are not allowed as a facial covering.

Screening — Patients and visitors must check in through kiosks located at the main Heart Hospital, Boling Pavilion and Emergency Department entrances to answer screening questions Monday-Friday, 5 a.m.-10 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday, 7 a.m-10 p.m. There is also a kiosk in the hallway from Medical Office Building C crossover and Medical Office Buildings A and F Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-5 p.m.

Ages — Flu restrictions are currently in effect (December 2022). Those under age 12 and anyone with any illness (cough, congestion, stomach upset) are restricted from visiting patients at this time.
Exceptions

Some patients, including those with positive or pending COVID-19 test results, may have additional visitation restrictions.

Two visitors aged 16 or older, 9 a.m.-10 a.m.

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) — Two visitors, parents or grandparents only; one visitor must be the parent

Labor & Delivery — Three visitors (aged 16 or older), plus a doula. Only one visitor during triage, Cesarean section or recovery from surgery

Mother/Baby (3 Heart), Gynecology/Postpartum (4 East) — Four visitors; children aged two or older allowed

Hospitalized patients — Two designated visitors aged 16 or older; only one designated visitor at a time

Outpatient appointments — One visitor aged 16 or older
